Lopetegui: Madrid moved on from Ronaldo

Real Madrid Coach Julen Lopetegui insists he already has the players ‘to fill the void’ left by the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese star – who netted 450 goals for Madrid – has joined Juventus but Lopetegui has backed his current attacking crop of players, including Gareth Bale, to excel.

“I recognise that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most important players in the recent history of Real Madrid,” Lopetegui told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“He had his desire to leave and the club gave him all the facilities to do so.

“We wish him all the luck in the world and when it comes to our players, Bale and everyone else, we are completely convinced we have the players to move forward.

“Bale is an outstanding player with impressive qualities and we are convinced that both he and everyone else can fill the void.”
