Vinicius ‘very happy’ at Madrid

Vinicius Junior said he was ‘very happy’ to join Real Madrid no less than six times in his first interview as a Blancos player.

Madrid made Vinicius the world’s most expensive under-19 player, having splashed out €46m on the 18-year-old, and the former Flamengo attacker expressed an early desire to ‘win more Champions Leagues’ with the capital giants.

“Since I came here, I felt something different, that I was going to be very happy, not only myself but also all my teammates and family,” he told Real Madrid TV.

“Everyone asks me what it’s like to be here. I always tell them there’s nothing better than being at the best team in the world and training with the best players in the world.

“Marcelo always told me that I’d like playing here. He told me I’d want to play here for many years, I’d never want to leave a wonderful team like Real Madrid and that he’d help with me with whatever I needed.

“Speaking of trophies, if I won half of what Marcelo has, that’d be great. I play cheerful and daring football, the style played in Brazil, with a lot of dribbling but while respecting the other team and with the objective of scoring lots of goals and always helping my team.

“Training is always very good. It’s similar to how it is in Brazil, but here the ball moves faster. I’m learning how to train here little by little and I’m becoming increasingly familiar with my teammates.

“I’m always very happy. Every day I’m happier to wear the Real Madrid jersey. I’m adapting very quickly, less so when people talk to me at such a pace!

“I’ll be very happy playing for this wonderful team. I’m expecting a wonderful year, in which madridistas celebrate many trophies with the team and I.

“I always want to win more trophies and, above all, win more Champions Leagues with Real Madrid.

“I’m very happy, very happy to wear the shirt of the best team in the world, and I want to tell you that we’re going to be very happy and win many trophies in this shirt.

“I send a big hug to everyone. Hala Madrid!”
