Rodrygo targets Madrid first-team

Future Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes is hoping to challenge for a place in Madrid’s first-team squad upon the completion of his move next summer.

The 17-year-old star, who has netted nine times in 32 appearances for Santos in his native Brazil, will join the European champions next year in a reported €45m deal.

The comments come after reports of compatriot Vinicius Junior, who joins Madrid from Flamengo this summer, could be loaned out to another La Liga club.

“What happens when I join Madrid has not been on my mind,” Rodrygo told Folha de Sao Paulo, in quotes cited by ESPN FC.

“These (loan moves) are things that I do not think will happen, and we have to be very honest about that.”
