Bale admits ‘frustration’ at UCL final snub

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale admits he was ‘frustrated’ at not starting the Champions League final and his goals allowed ‘pure emotion’.

The 28-year-old netted twice from the bench in the Champions League final victory over Liverpool and reports in England stated Manchester United were in ‘advanced negotiations’ for his signature.

“I was frustrated because I did not start the final,” Bale is cited as saying by Cadena Cope.

“I knew I was ready to participate in the match and in the end I did it, it was amazing to get that goal, it was pure emotion.

“It was one of those things you do not think about, you just react.

“My chilena? I have not watched it a lot, I went on vacation and disconnected.”

Earlier this week, Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett is quoted as telling ESPN FC: “Gareth will speak to the (Real Madrid) Coach (Julen Lopetegui) and we will go from there.”

The 28-year-old is under contract at the European champions until 2022 but faces competition for places from the emergence of Isco and Marco Asensio.

Cristiano Ronaldo has already left Madrid this summer, as had Coach Zinedine Zidane, as Los Blancos undergo widespread changes.
