Spain ‘prioritise’ Luis Enrique

The Spanish FA will not make an approach for Real Betis Coach Quique Setien and will instead turn their attention to Luis Enrique, say reports in Spain.

Fernando Hierro is currently in charge of the Spanish national team for the World Cup following the shock dismissal of Julen Lopetegui, who has joined Real Madrid.

A report in Sevilla Info reports that there will be no approach for Setien to take the role after the tournament, with the Betis boss ‘totally happy’ to remain at the club for next season.

The former Las Palmas Coach is one season into a three-year deal at Los Verdiblancos, whom he guided to next season’s Europa League.

The report continues that former Celta Vigo and Barcelona boss Enrique, currently out of work, is the preferred candidate by FA president Luis Rubiales.

The out-of-work Coach won two La Liga titles at the Blaugrana, three Copa del Reys and the Champions League crown in 2015.
