Isco: Madrid future in Ronaldo’s hands

Real Madrid playmaker Isco is hopeful Cristiano Ronaldo remains at the club this summer and believes it is the player’s decision.

A report in Diario AS on Thursday explained there had been ‘no advance’ in talks between the player and the club, with Madrid in no hurry to rectify the situation.

Ronaldo, 33, has been ambiguous about his future and speculation that he is uncomfortable with the club’s handling of his own tax situation continues in the Spanish press.

“Cristiano’s situation is similar to Zidane’s,” Isco – who will face the Portuguese star in this summer’s World Cup – explained in AS.

“It is up to Cristiano as to whether or not he will continue here, the decision will be his. I hope he stays at Madrid and continues to give us the same level of performance he has over the years.”
