Ousmane Dembele has promised he will improve his performances with Barcelona and put last season’s injury troubles behind him.
The French forward endured a difficult debut season at the Camp Nou, limited to just 23 first-team appearances and missing a combined five months of the season due to injury.
“This was a season with a lot of injuries,” Dembele explained in an interview with L'Equipe, in quotes carried by ESPN FC.
“It has been difficult. In spite of everything, though, I still have faith and the faith of everyone else. We'll see what happens after that.
“There were some difficult times, but I never doubted myself, even through the tough moments. I am going to return even stronger and prove my quality at Barca."
“I defend a lot there. Even if we have a lot of possession, it's important not to lose it. You have to be very careful about that. Barcelona is a team that must be united.
“There's just one [player] who doesn't defend: Lionel Messi. But he wins you matches.”
