Navas hails ZZ’s ‘confidence and trust’

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has paid tribute to Zinedine Zidane for the ‘confidence and trust’ he placed in the Costa Rican.

Zidane surprisingly resigned from the club on Thursday just days after guiding them to their third successive Champions League title, and the goalkeeper explained why the Frenchman was important for him.

“He always instilled confidence in me and he devoted his trust to me,” Navas told a news conference on Friday, as cited by Marca.

“We had a strong player-Coach relationship, but it was the same with all the players in the squad, he was very good for us all.

“He was always transparent and straight with his views, he was very clear with what he had to say and there was no miscommunication or doubt.

“He always had support for me, giving me advice and trying to help me improve as a player and as a person, I am lucky to have played under him.”
