Guardiola: I take my hat off to Madrid

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola ‘takes his hat off’ to Real Madrid after they secured their third straight Champions League title.

The former Barcelona Coach admitted that Zinedine Zidane’s side were ‘spectacular’ while he also ruled out a summer approach for Isco.

“When a team wins three consecutive Champions Leagues, and four in five years, it is because they are a spectacular team,” Guardiola told an event, as cited by Diario AS.

“The Champions League is a really tough competition — staying in it depends on a lot of things. If all these things are with you for three straight years, it's because you are in control of them.

“We can see that in Madrid following Liverpool’s equaliser, because the immediate period after that Liverpool were given a big morale boost but Madrid were at their best.

“They have exercised control in knockout ties, in one-off matches, and I have to take my hat off to them.

“They have all shown a lot of quality, from the players, to the Coach and the entire club.”

Guardiola was also asked about City’s links with a move to playmaker Isco, but this was swiftly ruled out: “No, Manchester City will not be signing Isco.”
