CONFIRMED: Zidane resigns at Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane has resigned as Coach of Real Madrid, less than a week after winning his third successive Champions League title.

The Frenchman has called a press conference at 1pm CEST (12pm GMT) to confirm his decision to leave the role.

Zidane replaced Rafael Benitez in the role in January 2016 and has led the side to three successive Champions League title and the league title, winning a total of nine trophies in 30 months.

The 45-year-old confirmed to his news conference that he ‘had taken the decision not to continue’ next year, when seated alongside president Florentino Perez.
