Zidane: Tactics not my strongest quality

Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane has described his qualities as ‘motivation and passion’, which he believes are more significant than tactics.

The Frenchman was responding to a question about his strongest managerial assets ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final against Liverpool.

“I may not be the best tactician, but I have other qualities,” Zidane told reporters on Tuesday, as cited by Marca.

“Motivation and passion are values that I have, and that is worth a lot more. I do not believe I am not strong tactically, because you (the press) do that for me!

“Having talent is not enough, as if you do not work hard you do not win anything. This dressing room has talent, and hard work, and with the two together you can achieve a lot.

“You can win things sometimes, if the dressing room is not good. But to win consistently they must get on well, and this dressing room is like that, very good, very united, they work very well.

“Jurgen Klopp? I do not know him personally as we have never met but I am familiar with his work and he is clearly a great Coach, with fantastic achievements at Dortmund and now performing well at Liverpool.

“This is a final, for both teams. That we possess more experience does not matter, we must show what we have and that we want to play another final.

“Are the teams similar? I do not know if we are or not, but I do not think we play the same way. People talk about the three up top, that they are not as strong at the back. But they are a team who have reached the final, deservedly, like us.”
