Casillas: I hope to stay at Porto

Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas has confirmed he wants to stay at the club after helping them to their first league title in five years.

The former Spain international joined the Portuguese giants from Real Madrid in 2015 but has won his first league title at the club, helping to wrestle back the crown from Benfica.

“I hope to stay here,” Casillas is cited as saying by Diario AS.

“I still do not know my future and it may have been the last game I have played at Estadio do Dragao, but I have no plans to retire and I wish to continue playing football.

“If Porto come to ask about a renewal, I will gladly listen.”

Casillas endured a spell out of the side earlier in the season but after he was reinstated, there is hope that his current contract at the club will be renewed.

Last month, Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa confirmed he wanted the 36-year-old to stay on beyond the current season.
