Simeone hit with four-game ban

Diego Simeone has been handed a four-game ban by UEFA after his dismissal in the Europa League semi-final first leg against Arsenal.

The Atletico Madrid boss was dismissed following complaints of Sime Vrsaljko’s early dismissal at the Emirates stadium and watched the second leg victory from the Wanda Metropolitano stands.

He will be banned for an additional three matches, starting with this month’s Europa League final against Marseille followed by the first two matches in UEFA competition next season.

The Madrid-based club have also been hit with a €10,000 fine for an object, reported to be a sandwich, thrown at an Arsenal player in the first leg.
