Atletico Madrid are in advanced negotiations to sign Celta Vigo defender Jonny Castro this summer, say reports in Spain.
Comfortable playing either in the heart of right-hand side of the defence, Jonny has racked up over 200 appearances since graduating through Celta’s academy and was a mainstay of Spain’s successful Under-21 squad.
A report in Cadena Ser states Los Rojiblancos are close to agreeing a deal with the 24-year-old despite clubs outside of Spain also holding an interest in the full-back.
The January transfer window saw the defender with a number of clubs including Sevilla and Leicester City, but no move materialised.
The Vigo-native’s contract at Estadio Balaidos runs until June 2019 but he is thought to be open to a move away.
