Diego Simeone has called on his Atletico Madrid players to be ready for a ‘hugely exciting’ Europa League semi-final second leg with Arsenal.
Speaking after his side’s 1-0 victory at Alaves on Sunday, the Argentine wanted to magnify the importance of Thursday’s clash at the Wanda Metropolitano, which is poised at 1-1 after the first leg.
“Thursday is a hugely exciting game for us and we must be ready,” Simeone told BeIn Sports after Sunday’s victory.
“We want to use these days to rest well but work hard and to be prepared to the maximum, so that we can all be together on Thursday.
“This game (against Alaves) followed on from us putting in a huge effort and not being in a physical condition to play a game of intensity like this.”
