Cakir to ref Madrid-Bayern

Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir will officiate Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Cakir is vastly experienced at this level, having been an international referee since 2006, and oversaw Madrid’s 3-0 win at Juventus in the quarter-finals.

He was also in charge of Bayern’s 3-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the group stage, as well as the 2015 Final, when Barcelona beat Juve 3-1.

The 41-year-old will be familiar to Madrid fans, having officiated their 2-1 defeat to Atletico in last season’s semi-final second leg and controversially sent off Luis Nani during their victorious last-16 tie with Manchester United in 2013.

Los Blancos lead Bayern 2-1 from the first leg and have two away goals to their advantage.
