‘Madrid had a little luck’ – Kroos

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos insists his side ‘made the most of important moments’ and admits having a ‘bit of luck’ in the win at Bayern Munich.

Zinedine Zidane’s side were under the cosh for a majority of the clash at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday but came away with a 2-1 first leg victory.

“They had more opportunities than us, but it’s normal that if you play away in the semi-finals of the Champions League that you suffer,” Kroos told BT Sport.

“They chose a very offensive line-up and put us under pressure from the first minute, which is what we expected, but it is true we could have played better.

“We did not keep possession of the ball well enough to exert the control we wanted on the game but at the end we had to score and we take a good result to Madrid.

“We made the most of important moments within the game and we worked very hard, we ran a lot and had that little bit of luck we need.

“Marcelo’s goal came at a great moment for us and it allowed us to start the second half stronger than we did in the first.

“We know from last year against Bayern that a 2-1 away win will not be enough so we are prepared to work hard again in the second leg.”
