Relegated Malaga sink La Real

Malaga, who have already been relegated to the second tier, recorded only their fifth La Liga victory of the season as they defeated Real Sociedad.

It was La Real’s first defeat under interim Coach Imanol Alguacil and brought the Basque club down to earth after their 3-0 victory over Atletico Madrid three days earlier.

Adrian Gonzalez fired the hosts in front after just ten minutes as Gonzalo Castro’s header into the area was not dealt with by the visitors.

The Andalusian side doubled their advantage ten minutes before the break as Castro notched up another assist, this time providing the cross for Youssef En-Nesyri to convert.

Malaga have now recorded two victories this season over Real Sociedad, who remain 11th.
