Madrid, Atleti discover ICC opponents

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have both learned their opponents for this summer’s International Champions Cup friendly matches.

Atleti will face Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter while the European champions will come up against Juventus, Manchester United and Roma.

Sevilla and Barcelona will be among the list of internationally-recognised clubs competing – the Andalusian side face Benfica, Chelsea and Inter while Barca play Tottenham, Roma and Milan.

“This will be the sixth consecutive year in which the Whites take part in the prestigious competition,” read a Real Madrid statement.

“Since its first edition in the summer of 2013, it has brought together the best clubs from around the globe.”

An Atleti statement read: “This will be the second time we compete in the International Champions Cup. In 2016, we faced Tottenham in Melbourne and Melbourne Victory in Geelong.

“This will be the ninth edition of the International Champions Cup and it'll be a perfect test for our team during the 2018-19 preseason.”
