Liverpool are willing to join Barcelona in the race to sign Sevilla central defender Clement Lenglet this summer, according to reports in Spain.
The 22-year-old central defender has impressed for Los Rojiblancos in a turbulent season for the club and will line-up against Barca in Saturday’s Copa del Rey showdown.
A report in Diario AS states Jurgen Klopp – whose side faced Sevilla twice in the Champions League this season – want to sign the Frenchman as a long-term partner for Virgil Van Dijk.
Lenglet was the penultimate arrival at the Andalusian club under sporting director Monchi, signing from Ligue 1 outfit Nancy in January 2017.
Earlier this week, Diario Sport reported Barca have ‘made contract’ with the Frenchman as they attempt to ‘take a step ahead’ following reported interested from Real Madrid and ‘leading Premier League sides’.
The defender reportedly has a €45m release clause at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan and the Blaugrana are keen for a deal due to the anticipated departure of Thomas Vermaelen, while Yerry Mina may be loaned out.
