Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez believes criticism directed at the club’s campaign is due to those who are ‘envious’ of their success.
The Spain international pointed to Madrid reaching their eighth successive Champions League semi-final as proof of their dominance and how their below-par domestic season should not be focused on.
“Many people are happy about our bad results,” Vazquez lamented to reporters after the match, as cited by Marca.
“It hurts them to see that we have reached eight (Champions League) semi-finals in a row and it creates envy with them.
“We must learn to live with these remarks and accept that this is what they want to focus upon.
“The penalty against Juventus? Of course it was a penalty, but it is being discussed more in Spain than it is in Italy.
“Bayern? They are a great side and James (Rodriguez) is a close friend of mine, but I hope they do not reach the final.”
