Cristiano Ronaldo claims he ‘doesn’t understand’ why Juventus protested Real Madrid’s penalty but believes ‘we were fair winners’ overall.
“We suffered, but we need to learn from this. It’s a lesson for us,” the tie-decider told BeIN Sports.
“In football, nothing is a given. You have to fight to the end. We could’ve scored more goals, but Juve and Buffon did well. We were fair winners [over both legs].
“The penalty? I don’t understand why they protested, Lucas was taken down from behind. If they didn’t provoke the penalty, it would’ve been a goal.
“Scoring in the 98th minute? Your heart beats quicker, but I calmed myself down. I knew I’d be decisive.
“Semi-finals? Anything can happen in football. We didn’t play well, but it serves as a lesson for us.”
