Ter Stegen: Clean sheets a team effort

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen insists the club’s strong defensive record this season is a team effort.

The German shot-stopper has been an ever-present for the Blaugrana in the competition this season, with just three goals conceded in nine matches in the tournament.

“All of the players know that if we concede fewer goals, it gives us a massive advantage,” Ter Stegen told his pre-match press conference.

“Defending well is a group effort and the shape is generally very good, with our objective now to continue in this manner until the end of the season.

“Everybody knows we have the players to score lots of goals, so if we can keep clean sheets we will end up winning a lot of games and making progress.

“In Rome we know it will not be an easy game but if we play our own way and in the manner which we have prepared, we should be ok.

“We must remain focused and attempt to win the game.”
