Madrid-target Nelson for Arsenal stay?

Reported Real Madrid-target Reiss Nelson is set to sign a renewal to his contract with Arsenal, according to reports.

The 18-year-old has been integrated into the Gunners first-team squad this season, making a total of 15 appearances including eight in the Europa League.

However, the winger’s contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in June 2019 and Diario AS cited Madrid as one of a number of European clubs who had been placed on alert.

Nelson made his full League debut in last Sunday’s 3-2 win over Southampton at Emirates Stadium, after which he hinted he was close to finalising terms on a new deal.

“It is a big achievement to sign for a big club like Arsenal so I’m just delighted with the contract and hopeful that I can sign it soon,” the teenager told the London Evening Standard.

Another Gunners youth product recently moves to Spain with Marcus McGuane joining Barcelona’s B team in January.
