Lionel Messi ‘scares opponents’ and makes Barcelona players ‘become calm’, according to club teammate Jordi Alba.
The Argentine star helped change the game for the Blaugrana in their weekend draw at Sevilla as he was introduced when his side trailed 2-0, but he netted a late equalising goal.
“When Messi is on the pitch, opponents become scared and we become calm,” Alba told a pre-match press conference.
“He makes every one of us play better when he is on the pitch compared to when he is not and you could see this at Sevilla – when he changed the game completely.
“His introduction changed the course of the game and of course he provided the crucial second goal – he makes and scores the chances which turn matches.”
