Real Betis Coach Quique Setien believes his side can qualify for Europe next season but ‘is not motivated’ to finish above Sevilla.
A victory over Getafe on Monday night would take Los Verdiblancos into the top six and leapfrog their city rivals for the first time this season.
“The only motivation for us is to add an important three points,” Setien is cited as saying by ABC de Sevilla.
“Our focus cannot only be on overtaking our eternal rivals but also others who are above us in the table as we still have a lot of work to do.
“Everything that happens now is absolutely circumstantial and we know a lot of top teams are fighting for not many places, so we must accumulate as many points as we can.
“The possibility of European football for us is clear and we are well-positioned to achieve – we believe we are capable of winning enough points to do so.
“We have played well lately and it is hard to maintain this but at the moment we have the illusion we can win every game, but we must keep fighting.”
