Lionel Messi will undergo a scan to evaluate the extent of a hamstring injury sustained on international duty, Ernesto Valverde has confirmed.
The Barcelona star missed Argentina’s friendly matches against both Italy and Spain over the international break with the issue and it is unclear if he will need to miss any games for his club.
“We will not worry about something which we do not yet know for sure,” Valverde told reporters, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.
“We do not think the situation is anything serious but depending on the results (of the scan) we will look at what to do as the best solution.
“I’m not worried because Lionel knows very well if he is injured and what that relates to, but whilst there is definitely a small issue we do not know anything more.
“We hope it is not serious and can be overcome quickly.”
