Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone has accepted his decisions were to blame for his side’s defeat at Villarreal on Sunday.
Los Rojiblancos now trail La Liga leaders Barcelona by 11 points with the Argentine boss insisting it was his decisions that lost his side the game at Estadio La Ceramica.
“I believe that the game was lost because of me,” Simeone told reporters after the match, as cited by Diario AS.
“The players were fantastic and did everything I asked of them, but it was my decisions that lost us the game.
“The game was intense and both teams share a lot of similar qualities – I thought our first half was excellent and despite pressure after the break, we were coping well.
“However, they made the most of two small moments in the match and that made the difference in those circumstances.
“Our aims and objectives remain the same, and we will try to add as many points as possible.”
