Lionel Messi admits it makes him ‘happy’ to have reached 100 Champions League but focused on qualification for the quarter finals.
The Blaugrana have reached the last eight of the competition for 11 consecutive seasons with the Argentine netting three goals in a 4-1 aggregate win over Chelsea to take him up to 100 goals.
“It makes me happy to have scored 100 goals in such a beautiful competition,” Messi told an interview with UEFA.
“The most important thing from tonight was that we advanced through the tie against a difficult team who possess lots of good talent and are tough to beat.
“It was important that we managed to score early and from there, we were happy with how the game panned out.
“This was an extremely tough match but once we scored the third we knew we would have enough to be safe and reach the next round.”
