Busquets ruled out with broken toe

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is set to be side-lined for up to three weeks with a broken toe, according to reports in the Spanish press.

Busquets asked to be substituted after an opponent stood on his toe an hour into Barca’s 3-0 win against Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday.

El Mundo Deportivo now report there is a broken bone in a toe in the midfielder’s right foot and he will now sit out the next three weeks, making a return in early April.

The Blaugrana confirmed news of the Spain international's injury later in the morning.

Whilst no official reports have yet been processed by the club, the midfielder is set to sit out his side’s La Liga clash with Athletic Bilbao while also missing Spain’s friendlies against Germany and Argentina on March 23 and 27.
