Diego Simeone has heaped praise on Sevilla’s victory at Manchester United and making it appear ‘a straightforward achievement’.
The Atletico Madrid Coach believed the Andalusian side’s achievement of reaching the quarter finals of the Champions League carried greater significance
“It is concerning that the general consensus is that this was anything other than a magnificent achievement with a great deal of weight and importance,” Simeone told a press conference on Wednesday, as cited by Marca.
“Sevilla played with huge levels of motivation, discipline and enthusiasm and their approach put them in good stead and made this look like a straightforward achievement.”
Simeone then turned his focused to his own side’s Europa League encounter at Lokomotiv Moscow, where his side lead 3-0 after last week’s first leg.
“Every game my team plays is important and this is another important step in our growth,” added the Argentine.
“We must not forget our previous successes in this competition, at a time when we were not as developed and did not even have shirt sponsors!
“We are not looking beyond the outcome of this tie, it would be foolish if we talked about other fixtures to spoil our focus or preparation for the game in Moscow, which is all that matters now.”
