Iniesta: I could leave Barca

Andres Iniesta has confirmed that he could leave Barcelona at the end of the season. “It’s a decision I have to make…”

Iniesta signed a lifetime contract with Barca earlier in the season, but the unique deal allowed the midfielder to consider his future at the end of each campaign and he has been linked with lucrative moves to China.

“The club will know before you [the Press],” he told reporters after the Catalans’ 3-0 win against Chelsea on Wednesday.

“It’s a decision I have to make, whether I stay or leave, and I have to make it before April 30.

“Those are the two options. I’ll make my decision in the next few weeks and my stance hasn’t changed since I renewed my contract.”

The 33-year-old then reflected on his side’s progression in the Champions League after they knocked the Blues out at the last-16 stage.

“The team were able to respond very well,” he added.

“Messi? He’s a player who makes the difference every game. For us, he’s s a blessing. Hopefully we can get closer to our objective of winning the Champions League.

“The Champions League is complicated, the challenge is minimising the number of mistakes you make, but we’re going to fight for it.

“The key is that we all pull in the same direction. We have only two months of the season left, and we’ll fight for everything because we have to.

“Opponents in the quarters? No Spanish teams because we know each other well.”
