Conte urges patience with Morata

Antonio Conte has urged Chelsea fans to show ‘patience’ with Alvaro Morata and hinted he may start at Barcelona on Wednesday.

The former Real Madrid midfielder has struggled in the second half of this season and is without a goal in his last 12 appearances.

“It is easy to forget that this is Morata’s first full season (in the first team) in his career,” Conte told his pre-match press conference.

“For most of his career, Alvaro has been on the bench at both Real Madrid and Juventus and only had the opportunities when first choice strikers were injured.

“We must show great patience with him because he is very important for what he can offer us now and in the future.

“He is a possible starter for our match (at the Camp Nou) and he is showing a lot of focus and is fighting for his place.”
