Setien plays down Europe focus

Real Betis Coach Quique Setien has played down excitement regarding his side’s possibility of qualifying for Europe.

Monday night’s 2-0 victory at Levante brought Los Verdiblancos into 7th – which appears likely to land a Europa League slot – and within three points of city rivals Sevilla.

“We are well placed but we must remain calm and enjoy these moments,” Setien told reporters after the match.

“Against Levante we had moments of brilliance with the ball and many people may interpret this as an important step to Europe, but we take things one step at a time.

“I’m happy with the result but I’m sure the analysis will bring some things up which will annoy me, and there are always ways in which to improve.

“This was never going to be an easy game and while Levante missed opportunities, we deserved the victory.

“Lately what I have been smoking seems to be of good quality, but in terms of our starting eleven nobody is indispensable, not even me!”
