Atletico Madrid fans should be cheering Antoine Griezmann in order to keep him happy at the club amid talk of a move away this summer.
The French forward has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Barcelona, while fans of Atleti jeered him following a sideways pass in a recent 1-0 home win over Valencia.
“Griezmann is someone I know better than anywhere, and he is fantastic,” Simeone told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“He is a great guy with a big heart, he is happy, humble and driven to do extremely well, and he is big for the dressing room.
“Atleti fans should not want to be in a position where we might lose this player, as he is decisive for us and makes a big difference – they should be cheering him and nothing else.
“A title race? We cannot afford to look beyond our next game, we do not look any further than that.”
