Busquets critical of Espanyol celebrations

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has criticised Espanyol for ‘celebrating like they had already qualified’ after their first leg Copa del Rey win.

The Spain international believes the celebrations following the home side’s victory at RCDE Stadium last week, while the Blaugrana eventually progressed into the semi-final with a 2-1 aggregate win.

“Espanyol celebrated as if they had already qualified for the next round, but these are 180 minutes long,” Busquets told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“It was good for us to eventually put things right and we were the stronger team, as it shows on the scoreboard and it was correct for us to progress.

“We have enjoyed a lot of success in the Copa del Rey – a tournament which is very important to us and which we hope to win again this season.

“We want to fight for every possible tight and not just La Liga and the Champions League.”
