Vezo suspension upheld

Valencia’s appeal against central defender Ruben Vezo’s suspension has been rejected by the Spanish FA's Competition Committee.

The Portuguese central defender was sent-off in Saturday’s defeat at Las Palmas and will now sit out this weekend’s big La Liga clash against Real Madrid.

Los Che now have a defensive crisis due to the 23-year-old’s unavailability, with Jeison Murillo also sitting out the match with injury and Gabriel Paulista also serving a suspension.

Ezequiel Garay is now set to start for Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side with a potential reshape of the back four pushing one of the regular full-backs – such as Martin Montoya – into the heart of the defence.

Vezo spent the second half of last season on loan at Granada and has started seven La Liga games this season.
