Dembele out for a month

Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele has been ruled out for the next four weeks in a fresh hamstring injury, it has been confirmed.

The French forward ruptured his tendon at Getafe in September in his third appearance for the club, leading to surgery and missing four months of action.

However, the Blaugrana state this is an unrelated injury and was sustained after coming on as a substitute in the victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday.

“After the game against Real Sociedad, Dembele had a problem with his left thigh and tests have confirmed that the player has suffered a hamstring injury, although it does not affect the area operated on earlier in the season,” read a Barca statement.

“The injury will mean he will be out for a period of around three to four weeks.”

Dembele joined the Blaugrana in an initial €105m deal from Borussia Dortmund this summer and has yet to score in seven appearances for the club.

He now looks set to miss the Copa Del Rey quarter final against Espanyol alongside league games against Betis, Alaves, Espanyol and Getafe.
