Coutinho to strike if no Barca deal – report

Philippe Coutinho will tell Liverpool he does not wish to play for the club again if his move to Barcelona does not go through, according to reports.

Reports across the Spanish press on Wednesday indicated the playmaker is edging closer to a January move to the Camp Nou with a deal possible this week, with journalist Marcus Alves stating the player is prepared to go on strike should a deal not be struck.

The front pages of Wednesday’s Catalan sport newspapers are dominated by the Brazilian playmaker, who reportedly has told Liverpool he does not wish to play for them again.

The former Inter player was excluded from the New Year’s Day win at Burnley, fuelling rumours his exit from Anfield was edging closer.

Diario Sport report he is ‘very, very, very close’ to moving to the Catalan giants with El Mundo Deportivo concurring that officials of Barca are currently in England to negotiate a deal.

The reports suggest the Spanish league leaders will pay in the region of €150m for the Brazil international, with The Times and The Daily Telegraph among the British press reporting similar figures.
