Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone has confirmed new signings Diego Costa and Vitolo will make their debuts against Lleida in the Copa del Rey.
Both players were signed by Los Rojiblancos last year in deals from Chelsea and Sevilla respectively, but due to the club’s player registration ban they have not been cleared to play until January.
“Both Costa and Vitolo are available to play, the club have confirmed it to me, so they will travel and be part of our squad,” Simeone told reporters, as quoted by Diario AS.
“We all already know about Costa here and the qualities he has, his aggression and his intensity, his movement and intelligence of play.
“We have brought him back as we know he will be the perfect fit with the other attacking players we have here and they will be able to link up well together.
“We now need to strike the right balance and, as we have always done, prioritise our teamwork and collective ability to play well, and the same is true for Vitolo.”
