Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has confirmed that Antoine Griezmann can leave the club – but only for “a unique opportunity”.
Griezmann previously admitted he only stayed at Atleti last summer due to their ban on registering new players, and Simeone appeared to suggest Los Colchoneros were unable to satisfy the attacker’s potential.
“Of course he can leave at some point, like Diego Costa and Arda Turan did in their day,” the Coach told L’Equipe.
“I love watching my players grow, and if one of them tells me that they have the unique opportunity of playing for a certain team, after they did everything they could for me, like Griezmann has done, I’ll say it’s not a problem.
“I know that he needs to grow.”
Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have both been heavily linked with bringing in the Frenchman.
