Madrid to sanction Casilla exit

Real Madrid will sanction an exit for goalkeeper Kiko Casilla this January amid reports they will sign Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The 31-year-old was signed from Espanyol in 2015 and has been understudy to first-choice goalkeeper Keylor Navas since, making 22 starts in La Liga.

However, with the reported imminent arrival of Kepa, Marca now report the European champions are willing to sanction his exit in January after preventing a move to English Premier League club Newcastle in the summer.

The report states that officials at the Bernabeu believe Kepa has the capabilities to cement his place as a long-term number one at the club, although Navas still has the quality to maintain his place initially.
