Line-ups: Madrid-Sevilla

A defensive crisis for Real Madrid sees young pair Achraf Hakimi and Jesus Vallejo slot into their back four against La Liga rivals Sevilla.

Raphael Varane’s injury against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League rules him out of this afternoon, the defender joining Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal, who are serving one-match bans.

Elsewhere, Lucas Vazquez and the returning Marco Asensio flanked a new-look, Blancos midfield without the suspended Casemiro.

Sevilla, meanwhile, have won their last three games in La Liga and qualified for the Champions League last 16 midweek, although Coach Eduardo Berizzo is still receiving cancer treatment.

The Andalusians have won four of their last five home games in La Liga against Madrid, yet you would have to go all the way back to December 2008 for their last League victory at the Santiago Bernabeu.

They also represent Cristiano Ronaldo’s favourite opponents, the Portuguese having scored 25 goals in only 17 appearances against them, and he starts the game just two days after being awarded his fifth Ballon d’Or.
