Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez insists his side are taking their season ‘one match at a time’ and not thinking about trophies.
Los Rojiblancos have clawed back four points on league leaders Barcelona in the past two La Liga match-days following Saturday’s comeback victory over Real Sociedad.
“Right now we are only thinking about taking one match at a time,” Saul told reporters, as quoted by Marca.
“We have no thoughts about anything longer term than that, whether it’s a title challenge or trying to secure a top four spot.
“The only thoughts we are allowing ourselves to have are in the immediate future and to ensure we keep our winning momentum.
“It is always important for the team to win, so even if there is frustration that you are not playing well, winning is the crucial aspect and I am happy to help that.
“Right now we are playing well and winning matches, so we are happy but we must keep working.
“In terms of the Champions League, we have to win our game and then wait, maybe Qarabag can help us!”
