Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane has received the full backing of the club’s president Florentino Perez: “Zidane is the best leader this team could have.”
The Frenchman has come under a degree of pressure having won only three of their last eight matches in all competitions and trailing league leaders Barcelona by eight points.
“Zidane is the best leader this team could possibly have,” Perez told a club meeting, as reported b Marca.
“What he has achieved is unique, he is a wonderful Coach who is now an even greater icon here and he has already won the Spanish and European Super Cups this season.
We have achieved what many thought would be impossible in retaining the European Cup and our team can carry on dreaming.
“Ronaldo is also hugely important, he is the top goalscorer in the club’s history, won his second ‘The Best’ award and should win his fifth Ballon d’Or, it is incredible.”
