Atletico Madrid are on the verge of finalising the €12m signing of Racing Club striker Lautaro Martinez, according to reports in the Spanish press.
The Argentina Under-20 international was also said to have attracted strong interest from Borussia Dortmund and Monaco, but Atleti’s persistence in the deal appears to have been key.
A report in Diario AS follows up on a report from Argentine journalist Tomas Davila that the player’s agent – Roly Zarate – was present for Los Rojiblancos 3-0 win over Elche in the Copa Del Rey this week.
Diego Costa and Vitolo are both joining Diego Simeone’s side in the New Year and a series of exits over the next twelve months are expected.
The report states Lautaro will join Atleti officially next month but will return to Racing Club on loan until June.
