Lionel Messi says his ‘dream’ of finishing his career at Barcelona has moved a step closer after signing a new contract on Saturday.
Messi’s new deal takes him to 2021, when he will be 34 years of age, and the Argentine expressed his desire to keep winning trophies and making history at his ‘home’ of Camp Nou.
“I’m happy to continue with the club, which is my home,” he told Barca TV.
“My dream was to finish my career at Barca and we’re moving down that path.
“The objective is to continue achieving things, fill the club’s trophy cabinet and keep making history at Barca.
“We’ve been lucky enough to win so much and I hope there will be more in the future.”
The announcement comes a day after the No 10 was awarded the European Golden Shoe for his 37 goals in La Liga last season.
