Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer confirms he has invested in Atletico Madrid. “I see great potential in football as a business…”
Reports last week suggested Ofer had bought €50m worth of Atleti shares, amounting to a 15 percent stake in the club, and the shipping and mining magnate suggested he was ready to spend big at Wanda Metropolitano.
“I didn’t grow up with football, but I see great potential in it as a business,” he told Channel 2.
“Atletico are a special club. No-one can buy Madrid and Barcelona because they belong to their fans, so Atletico are the best club you can find that are privately owned.
“Spending big on transfers? I still have to weigh up everything, but I'm sure I will.”
