Raphael Varane has explained how Zinedine Zidane is ‘a demigod’ in France while he also praised former Coach Jose Mourinho.
The current Real Madrid Coach starred in France’s World Cup triumph in 1998 and European Championships victory two years later, when the central defender was a child.
“Zidane is a demigod for my generation in France,” Varane told an interview with GQ.
“There are no words to describe him, but to play under him is an honour for me.
“Mourinho? At the beginning of my first season with him and I didn’t know why, so I spoke to him about it.
“Three days after that conversation, he started me against Manchester City, when I was just 19, it was a big deal.
“I took this as a challenge, and I believe Mourinho’s approach benefitted me as this was my challenge.”
