Quartet recalled to Spain squad

Spain have recalled Vitolo, Alberto Moreno, Luis Alberto and Suso for their upcoming friendlies against Costa Rica and Russia this month.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have already qualified for next summer’s World Cup in Russia and will take on the hosts alongside fellow qualifiers Costa Rica in preparation.

Liverpool full-back Moreno has previously won three caps for his nation but none since his switch to Anfield in 2014 while former Reds winger Luis Alberto, now at Lazio, has yet to win his first full international cap.

Suso, another Merseyside alumni who is now based at Milan, earned his first Spanish call-up in September but is yet to feature in the first team.

Vitolo has returned to the fold after his absence – through injury and form – from the qualifiers in September and October. He will join Atletico Madrid in January and is currently on loan at Las Palmas.

There are no places for a series of English-based players including Marcos Alonso, Cesc Fabregas, Pedro Rodriguez and Juan Mata, while Diego Costa is not recalled to the squad.
